Why Write a Will?
Simply, when you die without your final wishes stated in a Will, the law will decide who gets what.
Common statistics show that around two thirds of those who die in Britain have no Will in place.
But also, what if you don't die, and yet are rendered unable to deal with your own affairs? Have you put in place your Lasting Power of Attorney yet? Did you know there are two types of LPA's?
The Will and LPA strategy is such an important part of someone's personal estate planning arrangements, yet mostly when we ask 'why have you not got a Will or an LPA in place?' the usual answer is simply 'because I haven't yet got around to it' and never 'because I don't want one'.
NOW is the time to arrange all of this. Call us on 01206 577 266.
If your family situation is such that it does not follow the ‘rules’, then no one will receive any of your possessions other than the government. Is that what you want?
H D Consultants' is a professional Firm of Advisers and we abide by the terms and conditions, and the stringent code of conduct, as set out by our professional association with The Society of Will Writers and Estate Planning Practitioners, of which we have been members for many years. Via our association with The Will Company (our legal document providers), we have £2.5m PI cover and our team undergo regular continuing professional development.
Because people’s circumstances change, we recommend that a Will is reviewed every five years or so and that any required amendments or adjustments are made.
Inheritance tax, funeral arrangements, charitable donations, specific gifts and naming guardians are just a handful of reasons why a Will should be written and kept up to date.
Important note: Some financial products/services are not or may not be regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, and this is true of will writing and estate planning services.
Who to nominate as Executors? Since 1995, when we first launched our Will Writing and Estate Planning service, we have never been named as Executors because a) we don’t need to be, b) any professional Firm will offer a comprehensive service to help the Client select their own Executors (and Trustees etc) and c) as an added value service the Firm should also meet / discuss the processes and regulations directly with the Executors / Trustees so they are fully aware of their roles and responsibilities.
How many banks, solicitors or will writing Firms that you know about have actually ever offered this to you and your family?
This is an intrinsic part of our service and proposition and our useful Guide for Executors has been presented and handed out to hundreds of Executors, helping our Clients to plan and properly implement their estate planning requirements.
Write a Will, nominate Guardians, protect your estate.
